Food Drives
Thanksgiving Food Drive - 2009Four great ways to help feed 125 local families in need...more than any previous year...1) Donate Canned Goods... From Nov 1st-Nov 22nd (11am), consider donating canned goods and Thanksgiving-appropriate non-perishable items to the collection bins located around the Newman Center. Proceeds will be used to fill 125 gift baskets for local families in need. br>2) Donate money for turkey-vouchers... Each family's Thanksgiving basket will contain a 'turkey voucher' which will defray the cost of their Thanksgiving Turkey. Your financial contribution will assist the Newman Student Association in purchasing these vouchers. At least $1,250.00 is needed for just this aspect of the drive alone. Checks are payable to the NSA/TFD. Donations may be dropped/sent to the Newman Student's Office or the Newman Student Association mailbox in the main office. You can also contribute electronically through our Make-a-Gift page (EZ Gift or Comprehensive Gift both work). If you give on-line, please be sure to label your donation for TFD in the special instructions box. br>3) Help Sort & Deliver on "Action Day" Gather in the Newman Cafeteria at 11:30am on "Action Day" - Sunday, November 22nd, 2009. At that time, the food will be sorted into 'baskets,' and delivery routes will be formed. Teams will be assembled and door-to-door delivery will take place. Drivers are needed. Return to Newman by 5:00pm. If you have questions, or are willing to help, contact Justin: jpespisa@student.umass.edu or Bridget: bacullen@student.umass.edu br>4) Pray for all involved... Whether you can assist or contribute, your prayers are very appreciated for the good of all! A special thank you is extended to all members of the Religious Education for Youth (REY) program at Newman...for making a special Thanksgiving card for each basket! The Newman Student Association will also include a prayer card with a special grace for the family to recite when they sit down to their meal!
